Notable Approach
A few days ago, I had an employee come over and sit down next to me. It was not big deal they just sat down and said “Hi.” I asked how I could help them and they mentioned they were just stopping by because they had not seen me in awhile. We had light small conversation and then they left to get started for the day. At the time, I didn’t think anything of it, we had a rough night on some of our service levels and I concerned with that. But then as I went home I thought back to this encounter and regretted not saying a few things. Things like how impressed I have been with this employee’s performance the last few weeks. How I’ve seen an active difference in how they are approaching their role and it’s a positive change! As a growing leader I need to be more open to these times and be sure to maximize my efforts to encourage in the moment when it will count the most. But since I am thinking about it, I’ll hand write a card.
